The 2022 edition discloses an airline ranking based on five scores as usual, but they have been adjusted this year to give you the most accurate weighted view on the airlines performance.

What’s new about this year’s report:

• Compare airlines’ leverage more effectively using Equity Ratios as opposed to our usual normal debt/ EBITDAR.
• Analyse the change in performance over the previous 24 months, in addition to the current rating.

Some Key findings:

• Many of the airlines show significantly higher liquidity than normal due to high levels of fundraising but also troubling increases in the amount of debt and leverage they carry.
• The primary driver of high ratings is airlines with substantial cargo business.
• Some LCCs delivered strong performance, including Mexico’s Grupo Viva Aerobus in LatAm and Indigo in the Asia-Pacific region.
• The major Chinese airlines did not fare well in the ranking, driven by the very low levels of liquidity they show on their balance sheets.
